Guwahati: Sivasagar police hauled Kirtikamal Dev Goswami into custody late Wednesday night. Goswami, son of the Deka Satradhikar of Sri Sri Salaguri Satra, faces serious charges following a seven-hour interrogation. The arrest stems from an FIR filed by a 19-year-old performer who works in traditional Bhaona theatre.

The victim claims the abuse started when he was just 15. He alleges Goswami used physical force, mental intimidation, and recorded videos to keep him quiet for years. The victim performs female roles in his productions. According to the complaint, the accused held onto the recordings to exert pressure on the young artist.

Officers filed Case No. 130/2026. They charged Goswami under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities also added Section 377 to the list of charges. The investigation remains active as detectives sift through the evidence. Police confirmed they are looking into every aspect of the case. One official stated, "The investigation is currently underway, and police are examining all available evidence as part of the probe."
