Sivasagar Police Arrest Pani-Puri Vendor After Child Abuse Allegations

Guwahati: Sivasagar police have Hariram Ray in custody following allegations that he abused a 12-year-old girl in the Telipatti area. The 48-year-old vendor had operated a local phuchka business for years before the incident came to light.

The girl told her parents what happened. Ray bolted immediately. He stayed on the run for three days while police searched for him. Local residents eventually tracked the man to Balighat in Nazira on July 10.

The community cornered the suspect and handed him over to Sivasagar Sadar Police. Authorities have registered a case and are currently digging into the details of the crime. Ray is a native of Samastipur district in Bihar. Investigators say the inquiry remains active.
