Imphal: A delegation of Tangkhul Naga villagers from Sinakeithei visited Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at his official residence in Imphal to demand increased security. Accompanied by Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah, the group expressed deep concern over recent attacks by armed individuals that have left residents feeling vulnerable.

The villagers specifically requested the deployment of Indian Reserve Battalion personnel and asked for more staff at the local police station. They also emphasized the need for better protection along the route between Mahadev and Sinakeithei. Beyond security, the delegation called for improved healthcare, better essential commodity supplies, and the full operation of the local Sub-Divisional Collector office.

During the meeting, the delegation acknowledged the government for recent improvements, including the construction of a new road to Ukhrul, a bridge over the Ihang River, and the deployment of two companies of BSF personnel. In response, the Chief Minister urged community leaders to promote peace and discourage youth involvement in violence. He stressed that disarming illegal groups is essential for regional stability and highlighted government efforts to create job opportunities through vocational training.
