Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with the state’s latest group of Agniveers at Samman Bhawan on Tuesday. During the event, the Chief Minister confirmed that Sikkim reached its highest-ever recruitment milestone under the Agnipath scheme this year, with 105 young men selected for service.
These recruits are set to serve in the armed forces for a four-year tenure. While addressing the group, the Chief Minister urged them to stay disciplined and dedicated throughout their service. He stated, "The Agniveers represent the values and aspirations of Sikkim while contributing to national service."
To support the recruits after their service concludes, the state government has established a policy offering a 20 percent reservation for Agniveers within the Sikkim Police force. This initiative aims to provide stable career pathways for the youth once they complete their time in the military.
