Gangtok: Sikkim BJP leaders are pressing the state Vigilance Department to investigate financial fraud in Pakyong. The party wants action regarding repair work at the Machong Primary Health Centre doctor’s quarter. State spokesperson Sangay Gyatso Bhutia led the delegation on Tuesday. Zilla Panchayat member Megraj Sharma and Mangan district president Nim Pintso Bhutia joined him.
Trouble started after an August 5, 2025, RTI application filed at the Zilla Panchayat Office. Reviewing those records raised red flags. The party then conducted a site inspection. They compared the actual building against sanctioned estimates and the Measurement Book. They found no repairs occurred. Officials still filed completion reports and withdrew the full bill amount from the Treasury. The cash vanished.
The group first tried the Pakyong Police Station but officers sent them to anti-corruption authorities. They filed a formal request for an FIR and a full investigation on July 4, 2026. Vigilance officials confirmed that a probe is now underway. Bhutia noted that the party expects results from the state. "The probe should establish the facts surrounding the alleged irregularities," Bhutia said. He also pushed the Home Minister to fast-track the case to prove the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy on graft.
