Shillong to Host Major North East Infrastructure Summit

Shillong: Shillong will host the North East Infrastructure Summit on June 15 and 16 at the Lariti Performing Arts and Culture Centre. The event aims to foster regional collaboration and boost investment across all eight northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

Union Minister of Roads Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will serve as the chief guest for the inauguration. Commissioner-Secretary and organising committee chairman Sanjay Goyal confirmed that the government has received multiple participation confirmations from chief ministers and senior officials across the region and central government ministries.

The summit will feature over 800 industry delegates participating in thematic sessions focused on connectivity, tourism, aviation, digital infrastructure, and logistics. According to Goyal, the event will serve as a vital hub for engagement, as "the objective is to position the Northeast as an attractive investment destination and create a common platform where governments, industries, and policymakers can discuss issues and develop recommendations for future growth."

Meghalaya will showcase its local industry through an exclusive pavilion featuring up to 25 stalls highlighting start-ups, food processing units, handicrafts, and IT enterprises. The two-day gathering includes exhibitions and roundtable discussions designed to facilitate government-to-government and business-to-business interactions.
