Shillong: The city of Shillong will honor legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan on May 24, marking the 55th anniversary of the local tribute tradition. Organized by The Lou Majaw Foundation, the event brings together fans and musicians to celebrate the impact of Dylan through live music and poetry.
Veteran musician Lou Majaw leads a lineup of performers including Reuben Z Lyngdoh, Christopher Dylan Majaw, Phrangsngi Wahlang, and Diaclezziana Melbie M Nongrum. The festivities will be split into two sessions to accommodate the public. The first gathering takes place between 4 pm and 6 pm at Khyndailad in Police Bazar, followed by an evening session at Cafe Shillong in Laitumkhrah from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The event is designed as an open public gathering rather than a traditional ticketed concert. Organizers emphasized the open-air nature of the celebration, which reflects the deep roots of Dylan's music within Shillong's rock and folk culture. Over the decades, this annual tribute has evolved into a prominent cultural landmark for the city.
