Shillong-Dawki Road Reopens After Landslide Repairs

Shillong: The Laitlyngkot to Lyngkyrdem section of the Shillong-Dawki Road reopens today. This stretch of NH-206 was shut for weeks due to dangerous landslides. Officials cleared the path following a joint inspection held on August 8. The survey team included members from NHIDCL, the PWD Pynursla Division, and local district administration.

Gautam Warjri, the SDO for Pynursla, issued a formal notice on Sunday. He confirmed that vehicles can now transit from Km 24+00 to Km 37+00 starting August 10. You must still respect the nightly closure between 10 pm and 5 am. These restrictions remain in force until further notice.

Monsoon threats persist. Road conditions remain unstable. Warjri urged the public to avoid non-essential trips during heavy rain or immediately following downpours. He stated: "The public has been advised to avoid non-essential travel during heavy rain, immediately after rainfall and at night."

Emergency crews get a pass. Ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles might transit during the night if the site crew clears them for safety. The Pynursla Civil Sub-Division wants your help to finish the repair work without any further hitches.
