Shillong: The Shillong Archdiocese Catholic Youth Movement is heading to Mawlasnai Parish. They will host the 23rd Archdiocesan Youth Convention from January 7 to 10, 2027. Delegates from every parish in the Archdiocese will arrive on the first day to begin the four-day event.
SACYM president Eden Marbaniang wants the youth to step up. The event focuses on church growth and welfare. Participants will attend faith-based programs and visit local churches to study religious traditions. These activities aim to push young people into bigger roles within the church mission.
Diocesan Youth Director Fr Jameris Shylla highlighted the core message of the gathering. The event centers on the words, “Trust in Christ, He has overcome the world.” He believes this perspective will help youths face their challenges with courage.
Assistant Diocesan Youth Director Fr Staibok Warjri promises a fresh format for this year. The event closes on January 10 with a final Holy Mass. Bishops, priests, religious leaders, and the broader community will attend the service.
