Shamator Officials Push for Better Welfare Access for Widows

Kohima: Shamator district officials demanded better access to welfare programs for widows on June 23. They want these women to have more dignity and economic independence. The event took place at the Cultural Hall in Shamator Town for International Widows Day.

Renchano Odyuo, District Programme Officer for Social Welfare, led the push. The event theme focused on "Justice, Dignity and Economic Power for Widows." Authorities used the day to explain various government initiatives like the National Social Assistance Programme and Mission Shakti.

Staff handled Aadhaar updates and registered people for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana right on the spot. They also handed out sanitary supplies to those in need. Deputy Commissioner Arikumba attended as the special guest, while the Mission for Welfare Foundation helped host the gathering.

K Kamjila chaired the proceedings. Tsukhumla, the Women Director of STBC, started the day with an invocation. Other local leaders provided music and prayers to mark the occasion before Kiuthsangla Hankiu closed the program with a vote of thanks.
