Senior Sports Journalist Okram Homendro Dies at 52

Imphal: Senior sports journalist Okram Homendro passed away on June 8 at the age of 52. A resident of Singjamei Makha Khongnangphei-Dekpi, he spent more than two decades working in the field and was serving as the sports sub-editor for the daily newspaper Poknapham at the time of his death.

Homendro began his professional career in 1999 with Naharolgi Thoudang. On June 4, he collapsed while on duty and was taken to a local hospital in Imphal before being moved to Shija Hospitals, where he eventually died. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

The staff at Imphal Times issued a statement mourning the loss of the veteran writer. They credited his work with documenting and promoting the sporting culture of Manipur. The organization stated, "The newspaper fraternity noted that his dedication, professionalism and passion for journalism will be remembered by colleagues and readers alike."
