Imphal: Security forces have called on village leaders and civil society groups in Manipur’s Ukhrul district to dissuade young people from engaging in violence. This appeal follows a deadly attack in the neighboring Kangpokpi district that resulted in the deaths of three civilians on Friday.

The military presence has intensified across areas bordering Kangpokpi, including Litan, Mahadev, and Sinakeithel. On Saturday, personnel launched comprehensive combing operations and dismantled several bunkers in these regions to deter any potential spillover of unrest. Police confirmed that security teams are currently conducting joint patrols in villages with diverse community populations to stabilize the area.

Authorities are maintaining a visible presence in vulnerable locations to ensure resident safety. According to a report, officials specifically requested assistance from local organizations to keep youths from reacting to tensions elsewhere. Police stated they are committed to peace, noting they are "assuring them of continued deployment in vulnerable locations to safeguard residents and maintain peace."
