Imphal: Security forces conducted two separate operations on June 8, 2026, leading to the arrest of three individuals for drug trafficking across Manipur. Authorities seized a significant quantity of suspected narcotics during the stops.

In the first operation at the T. Khullen Naka Post in Senapati district, officers arrested 38-year-old Nasimuddin and 25-year-old Monjit, both residents of Assam. Police recovered 12 soap cases filled with suspected brown sugar hidden inside their Grand i10 vehicle. Along with the drugs, officials confiscated Rs. 4,000 in cash.

A second operation occurred in the Keithelmanbi area of Imphal West district, where security personnel apprehended 38-year-old Nongmaithem Rupu Singh. Officers discovered five soap cases containing roughly 58 grams of suspected heroin powder inside his Tata Tanker Bullet vehicle.

The authorities have initiated investigations into these cases. Reflecting on the ongoing efforts to curb illicit substances in the region, a security official stated, "Security forces arrested two residents of Assam along with suspected contraband items from T. Khullen Naka Post under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district."
