Imphal: Security forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and military gear during separate operations held in Manipur over the final days of May. The search missions took place in the Churachandpur and Ukhrul districts as part of ongoing efforts to maintain regional security.

On May 31, personnel operating near the Thinejang and Leimatak areas of Churachandpur discovered an AK-47 rifle alongside several additional firearms. The haul included two single-barrel rifles, a country-made 50mm mortar, mortar shells, and live AK-47 ammunition. Authorities also seized tactical supplies such as bulletproof jacket harnesses, helmets, and jungle boots.

A separate operation conducted on May 30 in the Yaolen Chepu village area of Ukhrul led to the recovery of multiple breech-loading and muzzle-loading guns. Security teams also secured dozens of spent shell casings, various tactical accessories, and three Baofeng wireless communication sets. Binoculars, ammunition belts, and a magazine pouch were also retrieved from the site.

Officials have confirmed that investigations into the source and intended use of these items are currently underway. No further details regarding potential suspects have been released at this time.
