Imphal: Security forces dismantled a militant encampment in Manipur’s Chandel district on Tuesday following an intelligence-led joint operation. The raid, conducted near the Myanmar border in the Aigejang area, resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of weaponry and equipment. According to police reports, suspected militants managed to escape the site after detecting the approach of the security personnel.
The seized inventory included a .22 rifle, a 9mm pistol, country-made carbines, lathod guns, explosives, and Baofeng communication radios. All recovered items were turned over to the Manipur Police for further investigation. Authorities stated that the operation remains a focal point for local security teams working to suppress militant activity in the region.
In a separate incident on Monday night, a nine-year-old girl named Pakpi was injured in the Imphal East district. Unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire from a vehicle, striking the child near her home in Kshetri Bengoon Mamang Ching. She was immediately transported to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed the girl's condition is stable and stated that a formal case has been registered. Police are now working to track down the suspects, adding that the "investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the firing."
