Imphal: Security forces hauled in three suspected extortionists this week. The arrests followed 36 hours of raids across Thoubal and Imphal West districts. Police and central security teams targeted two banned insurgent outfits.

Officers nabbed two Kangleipak Communist Party members in Thoubal Bazar. The men, 20-year-old Abujam Sumit Singh and 23-year-old Makuchung Gangmei, carried 48 illegal donation cards. These cards served as primary tools for their extortion schemes.

A third man fell into custody near the Imphal West bus terminus. Oinam Dhanaraj Singh, 29, represented the Revolutionary People’s Front. Officers seized his Honda Activa scooter during the arrest. Officials stated, "Security forces continue to intensify operations across vulnerable areas of the state to curb insurgent activities, extortion networks, and other unlawful activities linked to banned militant organisations."

All suspects now face legal proceedings. The recovered items remain with local police stations. Forces are patrolling hard to break these networks.
