Security Forces Nab MNPF Fighter in Imphal West

Imphal: Security forces picked up a self-styled Lance Corporal of the Manipur Naga People Front in Imphal West on June 22. The arrest happened near the ISBT Gate at Khuman Lampak. Officers identified the man as 24-year-old Siro Wungta, also known as Ronaldo, who hails from Tarong Village in Kamjong district.

Authorities are tightening their grip on the region. Security teams are running search operations and area domination drills in fringe and vulnerable pockets across several districts. During these sweeps, soldiers recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from multiple hideouts.

The state remains under a heavy security blanket to curb militant movement. Officials have set up 112 checkpoints across hill and valley districts to monitor traffic and maintain order. A spokesperson stated that these measures are part of "intensified security measures" to keep the peace.
