Itanagar: Security forces and Arunachal Pradesh Police nabbed an active NSCN-K Ang Mai militant in the Pangsau area of Longding district. They identified the man as 2nd lieutenant Wanglai Wangsa, also known as Laipa Wangsa. Forces recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, and 10 live rounds from his bag.

Police booked Wangsa under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. He has been on the radar for years. Investigators say he joined the militant outfit back in 2012. "The case has been taken up for investigation," a police official said.

Officers previously named Wangsa as a suspect in a 2022 murder case involving the death of Attar Sharma. Authorities linked him to Longding Police Station Case No. 43/2022. This arrest follows a similar operation in neighboring Tirap district, where forces caught another NSCN-K operative named Longsom Losu.
