Imphal: Security forces arrested two active militants from proscribed organizations during separate operations in Manipur on June 1 and 2. Authorities apprehended Yanglem Anaoba Singh, a 23-year-old cadre of PREPAK (PRO), near the Hiyangthang Bridge in Imphal West district on June 1.

A second arrest followed on June 2 when forces detained 25-year-old Komol Muktar Abas, a member of the KCP (PWG) group, at his home in Imphal East district. These operations are part of an ongoing effort to disrupt the activities of banned outfits in the region.

In a related development, security personnel discovered a substantial cache of weapons and explosives in the foothill area of Pechi Chinglak within Thoubal district on June 2. The recovered inventory includes an AK rifle, multiple breech-loading guns, various hand grenades, and detonators.

The seizure also contained several magazines for AK and INSAS rifles, dozens of live rounds, and a Baofeng radio handset. Officials confirmed that an investigation into the arrests and the seized military equipment is currently underway.
