Imphal: Security forces picked up two suspected insurgents during separate busts in Imphal East district on July 5. The crackdown hit hard across the region. Officials confirmed both men belonged to banned militant outfits.

Troops caught Sorokhaibam Pari Singh, a 27-year-old NRFM member, at Luwangsangbam Makha Leikai. He lives in Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai. Police link him to a recent shooting at a Pangei home. Authorities stated the "firing was reportedly carried out to intimidate the occupants and coerce them into paying extortion money."

Another team nabbed Md. Imran Khan in the Khurai Nandeibam Leikai area. The 29-year-old goes by the alias Carbine and claims Khabeisoi Sabal Leikai as home. He allegedly works for the URF. Officers have both men in custody while investigations continue.
