Security Forces Arrest Three Insurgents in Manipur Sweep

Imphal: Security forces captured three insurgents and seized a massive weapons cache across Manipur valley districts. The 36-hour crackdown hit multiple groups. Officials reported the arrests on Sunday.

Troops grabbed Angom Premjit Singh at his home in Phayeng Ching Khunou. He belongs to the banned Revolutionary People's Front. Police identified the 28-year-old as an active extortionist.

Another team intercepted Md. Azad Khan near Sangaiprou FCI Road. He drove a Tata Safari. The 46-year-old works for the United National Liberation Front Pambei. Authorities detained him for his involvement in the illegal arms trade.

Security forces rounded up a third suspect in the Khomidok Umang Leikai area. Buyamayum Pingku represents the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party-People's War Group. He resides in Khomidok Masjid Maning.

Officers pushed to demilitarize the region. They found hidden guns in the foothills of the Tentha Samuching area. The haul included one SMG carbine with a magazine and five bolt-action rifles. Officials stated, "In a major crackdown, security forces arrested three active insurgents from different groups and recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition across Manipur’s valley districts within a span of 36 hours."
