Imphal: Security forces captured ten individuals wanted by the National Investigation Agency during coordinated raids across Manipur. The joint operations, involving the Manipur Police, NIA, and CRPF, targeted districts including Churachandpur, Imphal, and Ukhrul.
Authorities linked the suspects to several violent incidents, including the Punjab National Bank robbery in Ukhrul and the looting of arms from the 5th India Reserve Battalion. Other cases involve the murder of a Hmar woman in Jiribam, the killing of four Kuki individuals, an attack on CRPF personnel at Narainsena, and an ambush on the chief minister's convoy. Confirming the sweep, the Manipur Police stated, "10 (ten) accused persons were arrested in NIA cases in joint raids by combined teams of Manipur Police, NIA and CRPF at various districts including but not limited to Churachandpur, Imphal and Ukhrul."
Additional security operations on June 18 and 19 led to further arrests of alleged militants and extortionists. Security forces apprehended a self-styled captain of the KCP-PWG in Imphal West and two members of the RPF/PLA near the ISBT complex. During that operation, officials rescued a juvenile who was being recruited into the RPF/PLA. Another juvenile associated with the United Kuki National Army was detained in Churachandpur.
To maintain order, police have bolstered security in vulnerable areas. Officials confirmed that armed escorts now guard sensitive transport routes to ensure safe movement for all vehicles.
