Imphal: A joint task force of the National Investigation Agency, CRPF, and Manipur Police tracked down two suspects in Kangpokpi district early Friday. They arrested Pradip and his wife, Ayingbi, at their home in Leilon Vaiphei village. The pair faces charges for the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians.

Authorities acted on specific intelligence regarding the May 13 incident. Officers searched the residence and surrounding grounds to gather evidence. The Manipur Police confirmed the operation via social media, stating, "On the basis of credible inputs from own sources, a joint team of Manipur Police, NIA and CRPF launched a precise operation to apprehend two accused who were allegedly involved in killing of 6 (six) Naga individuals on 13/05/2026 in Leilon Vaiphei village."

The six victims disappeared in May. Search teams eventually found their bodies in a forested area on June 11. The discovery sparked widespread outrage across the region.

The Naga Students' Federation recently petitioned President Droupadi Murmu for help. They held a candlelight vigil in Kohima to demand accountability for the hostages. Legal procedures against the suspects remain active as the investigation moves forward.
