Itanagar: A joint security operation involving the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police resulted in the arrest of an alleged NSCN-K (Ang Mai) militant in the Tirap district. The operation took place on June 18 in the Hydel area of Khonsa town after intelligence teams tracked the movement of an underground operative.
Security forces successfully laid an ambush to capture the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Langsom Losu, who is also known as Gangsa. During the arrest, officials recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, and 10 live rounds of ammunition from a bag in his possession. The accused has been transferred to the police to face legal proceedings.
Authorities described the arrest as part of a broader push to curb insurgency in the region. Officials said the operation was the result of coordinated efforts between the Assam Rifles and the district police and forms part of ongoing measures to counter insurgent activities in the region. Tirap district remains a focus for security agencies due to its strategic location bordering Assam and Nagaland.
