Imphal: Joint security forces hauled in two juvenile militants Monday during a crackdown in Manipur. The arrests happened at a vehicle checkpoint in P. Geljang, Churachandpur district. The suspects belonged to the Kuki National Front-Military Council.
Troops found 77 live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition on the pair. Officials withheld their names because they are minors. "They were handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board for proper rehabilitation," a police spokesperson said. Authorities are now digging into the militant network connected to the teens.
A second team combed Chiru village in Kangpokpi district later that day. They turned up a suspected improvised explosive device and four homemade mortar shells. Bomb disposal experts secured the area quickly. Police registered a case for both operations as the hunt for insurgent hardware continues.
