Security Forces Arrest Four Insurgents in Manipur Raids

Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police swept through valley districts over the last 36 hours. They arrested four alleged insurgents and grabbed a stash of weapons. The haul included a .32 pistol, three AK rifles, and assorted ammunition.

Police nabbed Shamjetshabam Kokfai Meitei, 26, in Kakching district. They claim he is an extortionist working for the Socialist Revolutionary Party. Officers also picked up Konsam Oken Meitei, 36, in Thoubal district for his alleged ties to the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup.

Authorities caught two more men in separate raids. Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei, 45, faces allegations as a recruiter for the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive. Meanwhile, RK Bothoi, 30, was arrested near Yairipok with a pistol and live rounds. A police statement noted the recovery of "a .32 pistol, a magazine and three live rounds" from his possession.

Raiders also found gear in an isolated stretch between Phayeng and Kharang Koireng. They recovered three AK rifles, a 9 mm pistol, four magazines, 37 live rounds, and two wireless handsets. The items were abandoned in the Imphal West district.
