Security Forces Arrest Four Alleged Insurgents in Manipur Operations

Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police conducted a series of targeted operations across the state on June 14 and 15, resulting in the arrest of four individuals linked to various insurgent groups. Officials confirmed the recovery of weapons and other materials during these coordinated raids.

On June 15, security personnel apprehended 21-year-old Thoudam Roshan Meitei, identified as a self-styled private of the RPF/PLA, at his residence in the Imphal East district. A day earlier, police arrested another RPF/PLA member, 30-year-old Moirangthem Naresh Singh, at a checkpoint in Bishnupur district. Authorities seized a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle from him during the arrest.

Additional operations on June 14 led to two more arrests. Khumukcham Shyamsunder Singh, a 54-year-old alleged cadre of the UNLF (P), was taken into custody at his home in Imphal West, where forces recovered a 9mm pistol and a magazine. In a separate incident near the Yaripok-Lamlai crossing, authorities arrested 35-year-old Ningthoujam Premkumar Singh, who is linked to the NRFM.

Regarding the status of the investigation, officials noted that "investigation and legal proceedings are underway." Authorities have not released specific details concerning the alleged illicit activities carried out by the four detained men.
