Imphal: A joint task force of central and state security personnel arrested five suspected insurgents during a series of operations across Manipur's valley districts. The raids, carried out over the past two days, also resulted in the seizure of various weapons and ammunition.

In Imphal West, forces captured two active members of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front, the political wing of the People’s Liberation Army. Officials identified the men as 29-year-old Mutum Mohen Singh and 50-year-old Sanayaima Leichombam. Additional operations in Imphal East led to the arrests of Loukrakpam Ibungo Meitei, an operative for the Socialist Revolutionary Party, and Heikrujam Hitler Meitei, who is linked to the Kangleipak Communist Party.

Security forces also detained Yumnam Seityajit Mangang, an associate of an underground outfit operating within the valley. Authorities recovered a .22 calibre revolver and nine live rounds of ammunition from his possession. Regarding the ongoing security efforts, officials said on Thursday that the arrested individuals have been handed over to the concerned authorities, and further investigations are underway.
