Imphal: Security forces conducted a series of operations across Manipur on May 22 and 23, resulting in the arrest of five insurgent cadres and the recovery of multiple weapons. The crackdown targeted individuals linked to various banned organizations operating within the state.
On May 23, personnel arrested two active members of the Manipur Revolutionary Army in the Imphal area. Authorities identified the men as Ningthoujam Vicky Singh and Ningthoujam Ishworchandra Singh. Officers confiscated three mobile phones and a two-wheeler during this encounter.
In a separate operation that same day, security teams apprehended Jehova Raja Dutta at his home in Churachandpur district. He was found with an INSAS rifle, four magazines, 36 live rounds of ammunition, and a bulletproof vest.
These actions followed a successful operation on May 22 in the Nghathal area of Churachandpur. Forces arrested two members of the United Kuki National Army, identified as Thongpi Guite and Shokhomang Baite. During this arrest, officials recovered an AK-47 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, two hand grenades, and additional ammunition. Security agencies confirmed that investigations into these cases remain ongoing.
