Itanagar: A joint security operation in Arunachal Pradesh resulted in the arrest of a suspected insurgent on June 18. The Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles teamed up with Tirap Police to track down a cadre from the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) faction in the Hydel area of Khonsa town.

Authorities identified the individual as 32-year-old Longsom Losu, also known as Gangsa, who is a resident of Tirap district. Security personnel initiated the search after receiving specific intelligence reports regarding the movement of an underground operative within the region.

During the arrest, officers recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, and ten rounds of live ammunition from the suspect. The accused is now in police custody to face further legal proceedings. Officials attributed the mission's success to the close collaboration between military and civil law enforcement agencies.

They reaffirmed their commitment to acting on credible intelligence, noting that these operations are designed to ensure peace and stability in the region.
