Aizawl: Security forces arrested two men in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district on Tuesday after recovering a massive consignment of methamphetamine. The operation, led by a joint team from the Excise and Narcotics Department and the Assam Rifles, netted 9.8 kilograms of the synthetic drug, which officials estimate to be roughly one lakh tablets.

Acting on specific intelligence, the team intercepted the suspects at the AOC Veng locality. Authorities identified the detainees as 47-year-old Lalrammuana and 44-year-old Lalrinpuia, both of whom reside in Aizawl. Investigators also seized the SUV the men allegedly used to transport the illicit shipment.

Preliminary findings suggest the narcotics originated in Aizawl and were intended for distribution within Lawngtlai. Officials have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, and an investigation into the smuggling network remains ongoing.
