Imphal: Search teams are scouring the Tuitha River in Manipur for a minor girl missing after flash floods hit the Churachandpur district. The student, identified as Lamboikim, was swept away by powerful currents on Thursday afternoon while walking home from the Radhakrishnan Foundation School in Tuibuong.

Authorities confirmed that the girl remained missing by Friday evening, triggering a large-scale emergency response. Local volunteers and members of several organizations, including the Kuki Khanglai Lawpi and the Kuki Students' Organisation, are working alongside youth clubs to locate the student. Officials noted that the incident was caused by heavy rain, stating, "Heavy rainfall over the past few days has led to flash floods in parts of Churachandpur district, affecting normal life and increasing the risk of water-related incidents."

The region has seen significant disruption as intense rainfall continues to impact the area. Search efforts remain active as community members and civil society groups focus their attention along the riverbanks to trace the student.
