Guwahati: Rescue teams are scouring the Kapili River in Assam for a missing teenager. Maya Das, a resident of Bhalukaguri, reportedly jumped into the water on June 22. Local fishermen witnessed the act and alerted authorities immediately.

Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force and Dharamtul Police launched a search mission that stretched late into the day. Families and locals crowded the riverbank as teams combed the currents. They found no trace of the girl.

Investigators are looking into the girl's recent history to find a motive. Das recently sat for HSLC compartmental exams after failing the initial round. Some reports point toward a fight with her boyfriend, but police remain cautious. Officials stated, "All possible angles are being examined."

The search continues under the watch of local authorities. No firm cause for the incident has been confirmed. The case remains open while divers push further into the river.
