Search Intensifies for Missing Jakrem Woman

Shillong: A 76-year-old woman remains missing in the South West Khasi Hills. Joit Kharlyngdoh vanished from her home in Jakrem village on July 4. She disappeared around 3 PM on Saturday. Local residents have combed the village and surrounding brush for two days without success.

Jakrem Myntri Pascal Wahlang described the missing woman as mentally challenged. She wore mismatched shoes and a jain kyrshah as a headscarf when last seen. Neighbors worry because she cannot travel long distances on foot. "We have searched all nearby areas because she is elderly and cannot walk far, but we have yet to find her. The search will resume tomorrow morning," Wahlang said.

Volunteers and family members continue the hunt. The Dorbar Shnong has asked the public to report any sightings of the woman immediately. Those with information should contact the Rangbah Shnong or call 8787741202 or 8837072958.
