Imphal: Rescue teams and community volunteers are continuing their search for a 14-year-old schoolgirl who was swept away by flash floodwaters in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The student, Lamboikim, went missing on June 11 while walking home from the Radhakrishnan Foundation School in Tuibong.

Incessant rainfall caused severe flooding in the area, dragging the girl into powerful currents at Laijon Veng. Search efforts intensified after the district administration requested support from the State Disaster Response Force. A team led by Havildar Riyajuddin arrived on Friday to begin scouring the Tuitha River with inflatable boats and specialized equipment.

Local groups, including the Kuki Khanglai Lawpi and the Kuki Students' Organisation, have joined the effort alongside residents. Adverse weather and strong currents have made the mission difficult, but rescuers remain committed to the task. Riyajuddin stated, "The operation would continue until the missing girl was located." The teams maintained their search throughout Saturday, combing the river from the point where the teenager was last seen.
