Rural Development Chief Inspects Churachandpur Infrastructure Plans

Imphal: Ramavatar Meena, the Director of the Department of Rural Development, touched down at the Tuibong Mini Secretariat on Wednesday. He came to inspect Churachandpur district and its progress with the Vibrant Gram Sabha-Empowered Village initiative. This program sits at the heart of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The clock is ticking.

Jameson Sehlal Hangsing, the project director for the district, handed over a progress report. It detailed job generation under MGNREGS, pending construction tasks, and the reach of e-KYC digital coverage across all 12 blocks. Meena grilled local officials on payment delays, worker attendance, and site monitoring hurdles.

The initiative pushes to boost rural livelihoods by building lasting community assets. Think water security and stronger infrastructure. The plan expands the annual wage guarantee from 100 to 125 days for every rural household. Local Gram Sabhas will hold the keys to project approval.

Meena noted that the "VB-GRAM-G initiative aims to strengthen rural livelihoods through the creation of durable community assets in areas such as water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood generation and climate resilience."

He didn't stay behind a desk. Meena toured sites at Headquarter Veng, Rengkai, and Bethel. He told village leaders and staff to lock in coordination to ensure these schemes actually hit the ground running.
