Itanagar: A section of the Manmao-Changlang highway crumbled on Wednesday. Relentless monsoon rains triggered the collapse between Old Jukhi and New Jukhi. The road is now impassable. Massive cracks split the pavement while boulders and loose soil choked the remaining path.

Days of downpours sparked flash floods and landslides throughout the Changlang district. Runoff tore through embankments, turning the major transport route into a danger zone. Residents rely on this link for supplies and emergency access. "The highway serves as a lifeline for communities in the region," locals said, warning that long-term outages will crush local trade.

Authorities have locked down the stretch to prevent accidents. Teams from the Border Roads Organisation and the Highway Department are on site. They face constant rain and unstable ground as they attempt to clear debris. Engineers are still evaluating the structural damage, but officials admit that the ongoing weather makes any quick fix difficult.
