Imphal: A masked attacker targeted a student at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal yesterday. The assailant wore a hoodie and struck at 5:30 pm while the victim jogged inside the campus. The student dodged the hammer swing and escaped unhurt.
Police have received two separate FIRs regarding the assault. RIMS administrators issued a formal statement condemning the attack, noting the institute is "concerned over the safety and security of students, staff and other members of the institute community."
Security is tight. RIMS banned all outsiders from entering the grounds for exercise or recreation after 5 pm. Staff must now show valid identity cards at all times while on the property. Officials urge everyone to stay alert and report suspicious behavior to security guards immediately.
