Guwahati: Locals in the Kachua area of Assam’s Kamrup district took matters into their own hands. They detained three youths found carrying a 9mm pistol. Authorities identified the suspects as Vishal Moria, Kuldeep Moria, and Akash Moria.

Police arrived on the scene and seized roughly 1 lakh rupees in cash from the trio. Officials suspect the men hail from Uttar Pradesh, though they have yet to confirm the backgrounds or identities of the group. The investigation continues. Locals stopped the suspects before they could move on.

The detention occurred in the Kosorua area of Hajo, rather than Kachua. Law enforcement confirmed they have taken the three men into formal custody for interrogation.

Separately, police seized four more pistols and 13 rounds of ammunition in the Golaghat district. Officers apprehended a Nagaland man, identified as Rakhal Sheel, during that operation at Chungajan in Sarupathar. Authorities found a torchlight and a bag containing plastic material in his possession, though investigators have yet to link the two cases or determine the final destination for the weapons found in either district.
