Imphal: IMPACT TV reporter Elangbam Ojitkumar earned the RK Sanatomba Journalist Award this week. The trust honored him for his deep-dive investigations into the Manipur school education system. Officials presented the award during a June 30 ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy in Imphal.

The event marked the death anniversary of late editor R.K. Sanatomba Singh. Attendees honored his memory with floral tributes before the award presentation. Ojitkumar received a cash prize, a citation, and a traditional shawl for his work. The trust has handed out this prize every year since 2004.

RK Nimai, Chairman of the RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust, praised the history of the award. He said, "The award has been presented annually since 2004 to recognise journalists who have produced outstanding work in various fields of reporting."

Sanatomba died on June 30, 1993. Friends and family created the memorial to keep his legacy alive. He helped found the Eastern Taekwondo School and pushed for social change through his writing. The award remains a standard for professional excellence in Manipur journalism.
