Shillong: Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar officially opened a new Dorbar Hall in Domjyrti village, South West Khasi Hills, this Monday. The community facility was built for Rs 15 lakh through the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund for the 2023-24 period.
During the inauguration, Tongkhar praised the contractor for completing the construction on schedule and maintaining high building standards. He acknowledged that the village still requires significant infrastructure upgrades, promising to push for funding to build a long-awaited internal road for the community.
The MLA also addressed requests from local youth to transform the village football field into a mini-stadium. While he could not promise the project would be finished before 2028, he identified it as a key priority for his office.
The event included participation from Mawkyrwat Block Development Officer I Lawriniang, Domjyrti Myntri B Nongsiej, and various local residents.
