Guwahati: Hari Prasad Saikia walked away from Raijor Dal on Tuesday. The former vice president handed in his resignation, dropping both his party roles and primary membership. He is hitting the reset button. He wants to reevaluate his path in public life.
Saikia sent his formal letter to the party president to make the split official. He noted the choice followed "careful thought and reflection" regarding his future. He asked the leadership to accept his resignation with immediate effect.
The veteran politician thanked his colleagues and party workers for their past support. He did not point to a specific reason for leaving. He kept his future plans quiet for now. Despite the exit, Saikia says he still wants to help the public. "I remain committed to serving the people of Assam and contributing positively to public life in whatever capacity I may have the opportunity to do so in the future," he wrote.
