Agartala: A tense standoff unfolded at the Bishalgarh court complex on Monday evening following accusations of misconduct against an investigating officer. Local residents and protesters claim that Mithun Saha, the officer handling the high-profile Bishalgarh shooting case, behaved inappropriately and attempted to molest the wife of the accused, Ranabir Sarkar, within the court premises.
News of the alleged incident drew a large crowd of women to the court, where they staged a demonstration demanding an immediate and impartial investigation into the officer's conduct. As the protest grew, tensions spiked during a confrontation with police personnel dispatched to manage the scene.
Demonstrators reported that officers used force to clear the area, resulting in several injuries among the protesters. Some participants alleged that the crackdown was ordered by the Officer-in-Charge of the Bishalgarh Police Station, Vijay Das. Police officials have not yet issued a formal statement addressing these claims.
Authorities deployed additional personnel around the court to stabilize the area as local residents continue to demand accountability. The incident has caused significant public concern, with community members calling for a transparent probe to ensure justice is served.
