Guwahati: President Droupadi Murmu has awarded the Shaurya Chakra to two soldiers from Assam, Major Bhargav Kalita and Dhruva Jyoti Dutta, in recognition of their exceptional gallantry. The honors celebrate their dedication and service during high-stakes military engagements.
Major Bhargav Kalita received the honor for his tactical brilliance and courage shown throughout a counter-terrorism operation. Dhruva Jyoti Dutta was recognized for his actions during an ambush in Manipur. Despite sustaining a gunshot wound, Dutta successfully saved the lives of eight fellow soldiers.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the two men for their selfless service to the nation. He described their achievements as a "source of immense pride for the state and the country." The awards underscore the significant sacrifices made by personnel from Assam as they protect the nation under difficult conditions.
