Guwahati: Assam Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force intercepted a major drug shipment at New Bongaigaon Railway Station on Wednesday. During a joint operation, officers seized more than 2,000 banned Yaba tablets.

Authorities arrested Rajilur Rahman in connection with the discovery. Police stated that the contraband was found while conducting a search at the station. Preliminary findings suggest Rahman was travelling on the down-bound Vivek Express with the narcotics, which were intended for transport to Murshidabad in West Bengal.

Officials noted that the seized tablets hold a significant value in the illicit drug market. According to the police, the seized tablets are "estimated to be worth several lakh rupees" in the illicit drug market.

Law enforcement officials have launched a thorough investigation to identify the origin of the drugs. The probe also aims to determine if the suspect is connected to a larger drug trafficking network operating in the region.
