Imphal: Police intercepted a vehicle near the Manipur-Mizoram border and seized 60,000 suspected Yaba tablets with an estimated black market value of Rs 18 crore. Officers stopped the Mahindra Bolero, registered under number AS12U7746, during a routine roadside check.
The search took place in the presence of independent witnesses and was recorded on video. Along with the narcotics, officials recovered a mobile phone from the vehicle. Initial field tests using a drug detection kit confirmed the presence of methamphetamine within the tablets.
Authorities arrested the driver, 44-year-old Ngamlen, who resides in the Zaolen Kumbipukhru village of Manipur’s Churachandpur district. Police have launched legal proceedings against the suspect and are currently investigating the origin and the intended destination of the illegal shipment.
