Police Seize Rs 12 Crore in Drugs During Assam Raids

Guwahati: Sribhumi Police seized approximately Rs 12 crore worth of illegal drugs following two successful anti-narcotics raids. Authorities arrested four suspected traffickers and confiscated five mobile phones during the coordinated operations.

Officers launched the raids after receiving confidential intelligence about drug smuggling. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Trinayan Bhuyan stated that the actions were launched based on confidential inputs regarding suspected drug trafficking activities. The seizures included a total of 65,000 Yaba tablets recovered from the Sherpur and Kaliganj areas.

The first raid took place at the Sherpur residence of Abdul Kadir, where police found 48,000 tablets hidden in a bucket on the roof. Officers arrested Kadir along with Jabrul Islam and Gulzar Hussain. All three men have since appeared in court.

A simultaneous operation in the Kaliganj area led to the arrest of Sabir Uddin, a resident of Nilambazar. Police recovered 17,000 Yaba tablets during this search. Investigations are ongoing as authorities analyze the evidence linked to the trafficking network.
