Guwahati: Shimultapu Police intercepted a truck at Srirampur and seized 5,740 kilograms of suspected illegal areca nuts. The haul consisted of 82 individual packets. The operation occurred as officers patrolled the area.
Authorities took the driver, Bishnu Das, into custody at the scene. He remains the primary focus of the ongoing police investigation. Officials are working to uncover where the contraband originated and where it was headed.
