Police Seize Narcotics Worth Rs 2.44 Crore in Barpeta

Guwahati: Assam police seized a massive shipment of narcotics worth Rs 2.44 crore in the Barpeta district. Officers intercepted a truck carrying the contraband after discovering it hidden within a specialized compartment of the vehicle.

The operation resulted in the recovery of 671 grams of heroin and 22,000 Yaba tablets. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the successful raid on Thursday.

Sarma took to social media to commend the police force for their efforts. He noted that the traffickers had their illegal shipment intercepted by law enforcement and emphasized that the state government remains committed to dismantling drug smuggling networks operating within the region.
