Aizawl: A joint task force of the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police netted a haul of heroin worth 1.13 crore on Monday. They caught a woman from Chandel, Manipur, during an intelligence-led sting at the Seling check post in Aizawl district. She is behind bars.

The operation yielded 150.97 grams of the narcotic. Officers also grabbed a mobile phone from the suspect. The force moved quickly to hand over the drugs, the hardware, and the detainee to local police for follow-up legal action.

The Assam Rifles issued a statement on the bust. They stated the action, "reflected its continued coordination with the Mizoram Police and other law enforcement agencies in efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in the state."

Authorities remain focused on the border. They want to stop illegal goods crossing from Myanmar. More arrests could follow as police dig into the case.
